For starters, you download the MYNT Smart Tracker and Finder app from your phone's app store. You then pair the MYNT ES device to your phone and register it within the app. Then... stick the MYNT on/in the item to be tracked.
Where to place the MYNT depends on the item to track. In the case of a wallet, you would place inside. If you have a young child who likes to wonder off, you might sew on a small pouch into their clothing and place the MYNT in that. Luggage, treat like a luggage tag, similarly place on a key ring for keys. Then the magic happens.
Once you've misplaced your "valuable" item with the MYNT attached, tell the MYNT to chirp through the phone app and you'll find the item quickly. Can't find the phone but have the MYNT in hand? Press the button on the MYNT and the phone will chirp instead. Its that simple.
Really lost an item? You can rely on other MYNT users to help you find your item. If you report your item lost with the MYNT attached/inside, then anyone nearby your item with their own MYNT will trigger an alert to direct you where to find it.
Overall, I like the functionality of the device if you're the forgetful type. It is really easy to use the app to trigger the MYNT to chirp when you misplace your tagged item, provided its close enough, or alert you when the MYNT has been left too far away. I had no issue with pairing the MYNT to my phone and it stayed paired even if not using the MYNT ever day/week. The battery in the MYNT is replaceable and supposedly lasts a year thanks to super low power Bluetooth 4.0. I'm not sure how you're notified when the battery dies or if you're just expected to notice though. Great gift for the grandparents, provided you set it up for them, if they're technology-challenged.
