The Essential Small Serrated Knife
It's a good idea to have a full set of good quality knives in your kitchen. But, one of the most important implements to have on hand is a small serrated knife. The serrations make this an ideal tool for cutting everything from delicate items such as bread, to hard vegetables.
More Than Just a Cake Tester
If you like to bake, then having a cake tester around is pretty much a necessity. However, cake testers are not just useful for testing cakes, they can also be used for checking the cooking progress of other items such as vegetables.
Precision Is Key
Invest in a set of quality scales. While estimating ingredients may work on occasion, to ensure a good result you need to be precise, particularly when baking. Also, remember to buy metric when purchasing scales.
Don't Forget the Wine
Don't Forget the Wine
This may not be completely about cooking, but wine is often an important part of a meal. Therefore, you need a good quality corkscrew, as the last thing you want is to have bits of cork floating in your glass of wine. Once you have a reliable corkscrew in your collection of kitchen equipment, you need to make sure that you know how to use it properly.
Storing and Cooking Sous Vide
Vacuum sealing is an excellent way of keeping food items fresh in the fridge. It also helps to protect items that you want to store in the freezer. If you are feeling adventurous, you can also use a vacuum sealer to cook items using the sous vide method.
All of these items can be purchased in store or online. You need to take a look at providers like the Kitchen Collection. It's a good idea to buy your kitchen equipment from this type of reputable company as you want to make sure that you invest in equipment which is manufactured to last, and which does the job well. We cannot promise this will make you as good as Gordon or Rachael, but at least you will have the right equipment to try.
