Fences Movie Review and Giveaway

This is a sponsored post on behalf of Review Wire Media for Paramount Pictures. I received information to facilitate my review as well as a promotional item to thank me for my participation.
Today is release day of the DVD for the movie Fences, staring Denzel Washington and Viola Davis. Not only that but we have a copy for you to win. Before the giveaway, a quick review...
Adapted by legendary writer August Wilson from his own renowned play, Fences follows former Negro-league baseball player Troy Maxson (Washington) in 1950s Pittsburgh as he fights to provide for those he loves in a world that threatens to push him down. An unforgettable and timeless masterpiece, Fences “connects with people on a deep, emotional level” (Glenn Whipp, Los Angeles Times) and pulses with the universal truths of love and forgiveness, despite what lies beyond your own fence.
The Fences Blu-ray Combo Pack includes over 30 minutes of fascinating bonus content. With interviews from the cast and crew, including actor/director Denzel Washington and Viola Davis, discover how August Wilson's Pulitzer Prize-winning play was adapted from stage to screen. Plus, visit the movie’s Pittsburgh set, learn how Davis prepared for her award-winning performance, and much more.
Hailed by critics and audiences alike, Fences was nominated for four Academy Awards including Best Picture, Best Actor (Denzel Washington), and Best Adapted Screenplay (August Wilson), and Viola Davis won the Best Supporting Actress award for her transcendent performance along with a 2017 Golden Globe Award, a SAG Award, and more than a dozen critics' group awards. Fences was also named one of the best films of the year by the American Film Institute, Rolling Stone, Entertainment Weekly, the Producers Guild of America, and more.

With all the awards given to this movie, you can't say this is a bad movie, as it truly isn't. It is a fantastic adaptation of an original stage-play with strong performances of its leads. (Denzel previously won a Tony award for his Broadway performance.) Without revealing too much of the story, you live through Troy's (Denzel Washington) disappointments in life and watch as he tries to protect his son from having his own set. There are a bit of sports involved to keep the male audience interested but you watch more for seeing how Troy handles what life throws at him. It is a heavy story, not for someone looking for something all bright and shiny.

And... now for the giveaway. Open to US residents only who are 18+, you have through 3/26/17 at 11:59pm EDT to enter. See Giveaway Rules for additional rule details. Good luck.
