Don't Fall for Car Wrap Fraud / Scam

An email slipped through my spam filter today and I thought I would share so nobody else is caught up by the scam. It was a short and sweet email:
Would You Wrap Your Car in an Ad for $300 Weekly.
During this time of year where we can all use more money, this sounds like a great deal. But follow up and you'll quickly be out of luck and a bit poorer.

Here's how they screw you...
It works with your typical over payment scheme. They send you a (bad) certified check for an amount that includes your first month's payment. The rest of check value is to be paid to a graphic designer. You pay the graphic designer via Western Union so the payment is untraceable and unrecoverable. Then, the bank tells you the check is bad and you're out whatever you sent the graphic designer and any fees you might have incurred.

Replying on its own doesn't cost you any money, but if you then act on what they tell you do, that's where you can lose a few dollars. Just don't reply the first time.
