RIP Rue McClanahan

It seems to be an annual phenomenon the past couple of years. In 2010, Rue McClanahan, aka Blanche Devereaux from The Golden Girls, died. For the past couple of years, on the anniversary of her death, 6/3, people posted remembrances of her. They even include links to the obituary article on CBS about the death from 2010. Then the whole world goes, Oh God! Blanche is dead, thinking it happened this year. And everyone's Facebook/Twitter feed fills with RIP Rue or related posts.

The Washington Post posted about the thing last year: Why is everyone posting about Rue McClanahan’s death when she died four years ago? Articles are just starting to come out about it this year, like at CBS: "Golden Girls" star Rue McClanahan goes viral five years after her death. Be prepared for next year's headline: Rue McClanahan's death goes viral again, six years after her death. She's been dead for some time.

For the record, Abe Vigoda is still alive. You can check on to make sure. He's now 94.
