Gambrell Classic Australian Sheepskin Rug Review

Gambrell Classic Australian Sheepskin Rug Review
Back in August, we did a giveaway of an Australian Sheepskin Throw from Gambrell Renard Home Decor. (Congrats Robin A. on winning. Hope you enjoy.) I recently received mine for review. We're a big Old English Sheepdog family, and my wife has always loved the feel of sheepskins. They're so soft. The throw from Gambrell is no disappointment.

The sheepskin we received is their 2' x 3' sized throw that sells for $103. It can also serve as a rug, too. It is just the right size to be on the floor outside the bathtub, though I wouldn't personally use it there. I actually like it on the side of the bed, but my wife enjoys it more in the family room for now, so she wins, especially with winter coming. Gambrell offers some design ideas on how/where to use the sheepskin to help you visualize additional possible usages.

In addition to the 2' x 3' size, you can pickup one in several other sizes, too:
  • 2' x 6'
  • 3.75' x 5.75'
  • 5' x 6.25'
  • 6' x 6.75'
  • 8' x 9'
  • 11' x 13'
Prices run from the $103 for the 2'x3' size, all the way up to $1,203 for the largest 11'x13' size. All sizes are available in white/ivory and champagne, with the smallest size also available in black, brown, gray, pink, blue, yellow, red.

The most amazing part of the throw is the feel. It is just so soft and fluffy, you want to cuddle up with it. We keep it on a chair or couch in the family room, as it is nice and soft to sit on. It would also serve well as a Christmas present to someone who might want a genuine sheepskin. Gambrell also does cowhides, which is what I originally contacted them about. Then I saw their sheepskin, and knew my wife would love that even more. Gambrell also has sheepskin pillows that we might have to buy. If they're as soft as the throw, I can see them being more enjoyable then our current ones.

I have not cleaned the throw yet. It is supposedly machine washable in warm water. HowToCleanStuff.Net offers instructions on how to clean the throw by hand. I'm curious to see how long it will be before we need to clean it. Between the seven year old and the dog, I don't envision it staying white (creamy ivory?) for too long.

Overall, a superb throw whose softness is to die for. Hard to find something softer, especially in an animal hide.
