Are you not a member of LinkedIn and don't want them to send you any invites from friends to join? You can put your email on their Do Not Contact list. If you do this and have the email associated with an account, it shuts down the account, too. After this, you are fully blocked from getting emails from them.
Do you just want less emails from them? There is an Email Frequency settings page that allows you to configure frequency of messages. Assuming you want to keep your account open, this is probably where you want to look. Just go through the different settings and either disable the different types of messages or lower the frequency.
What I would like to know is how you get Linkedin to stop sending multiple requests to your friends when you don't initiate the contact? I'm ready to shut the account down completely.
