As a first step, click on your picture in the top right corner. This will bring up a drop-down menu where one of the options is Privacy & Settings. Select that.
Next, pick the Turn on/off your activity broadcasts option under Privacy Controls. That will bring up the Activity broadcasts window.
From here, make sure the Let people know when you change your profile, make recommendations, or follow companies checkbox is not checked. Then press Save changes.
You'll see a success message on the screen in green if all goes well. Now no more annoying your friends with messages.
Changing this setting doesn't prevent you from getting other people's annoying messages. Just from you sending out messages on your changes.
How do you prevent getting other people's annoying messages? I don't use linkedin myself.
