GoodSync Review

Read a review of GoodSync from the folks that brought you RoboForm
The folks over at Siber Systems, maker of RoboForm, have been keeping me busy here, even before they offered five licenses for a giveaway in March. I've done a review of their RoboForm product, a second review of RoboForm but from a mobile perspective, and now, I'm looking at their GoodSync product. Each of the six prize packs for the Decked Out Dad's Day giveaway event includes both RoboForm and GoodSync licenses, so they've been very generous.

GoodSync is Siber Systems' file synchronization program. It is how RoboForm manages the synchronization of password data such that using RoboForm on multiple machines keeps the login/password information available and current across those multiple machines. What they've done is disconnect the tool from RoboForm such that you can synchronize your own files between machines.

GoodSync competes with such products as SugarSync and Drop Box in that it manages to copy designated files to another system, typically for backups. Then when such files or directories get updated, they get re-uploaded to the designated server.

One area were GoodSync differs from most of the others is how it handles synchronization. You can connect machines directly without having to rely on the cloud as an intermediary.

As far as using the actual software goes, I found the tree view the most helpful so you can see both what's new and also to see what's changed. After your setup though, you can just sit back and forget it, as the software can automatically copy files between your machines. You don't have to keep pressing Sync, Sync, Sync. I didn't find the software overly complicated and it is really good at identifying files changes. It has to be to keep RoboForm handling in check.

Disclosure: I received the above mentioned product for the purpose of this review . No other compensation was received. All opinions stated are my own and may differ from yours. See my disclosure policy for more information.

  1. This looks like an awesome file management tool - I'll have to head over and check it out myself. Thanks for the review!

  2. This looks great! Hubby would love it - and the fire pit in package 1!

  3. I'd like to win Package #1 or #2 the most. They have things the hubby would like the most I think, especially the fire pit. He's been wanting one of those! But any of them would be great!

  4. GoodSync is an awesome software to keep your files organized. Since using GoodSync, I can find navigate my folders on external devices as if I was on my primary device. The ability to sync your files to cloud storages like SkyDrive, Google Drive, and Dropbox is also an added bonus.
