Our latest giveaway is for a pair of books to help you get your manga on. For the artist inside you, or your child. Certainly not me, as my art skills are rather limited. The books are from Tuttle Publishing, a place I worked with before for Multicultural Children's Book Day, as they feature titles on Asian culture, and if you're talking Manga, Japan is at the heart of it.
This giveaway is part of the Sweet Goodness hop, hosted by Mama the Fox. Be sure to look below the entry form for the manga book giveaway for a list of other participating hop bloggers. All giveaways should be ending on the 15th of August.
You can make the leap from beginner to master with Tuttle's two new guides on how to draw manga!
The Manga Artist's Handbook: Drawing Basic Characters provides a new three-step tracing technique that beginning artists can use to learn to draw manga characters just like a pro! Every page presents a classic manga pose, from walking and running to jumping for joy, in three different steps: a simple outline of the body; the defining elements of the character; and the finished drawing. Let popular manga artists Junka Morozumi and Tomomi Mizuna guide you through a series of carefully graded lessons to build up your skills gradually, until you master the art of drawing basic characters.
The Complete Guide to Drawing Action Manga provides all the essential techniques to draw more lifelike action figures in the classic Japanese manga style. The comprehensive introduction first shows the reader the physical anatomy of male vs. female figures and gives important tips on proportions, perspective and often-overlooked details. Five subsequent chapters cover over 40 action poses in the following categories: general movements, basic fight movements, facing off with an opponent, use of weapons, and reacting to an opponent.
And, now for the giveaway. The prize is a copy of both manga titles: The Manga Artist's Handbook: Drawing Basic Characters and The Complete Guide to Drawing Action Manga. The giveaway is open to residents of the who are 18+ and ends at 11:59pm EDT on 8/15/19. For more complete rules see Giveaway Rules. Good luck.
