#Shaws1216 Gift Card Rewards and Giveaway

Are you a fan of giving gift cards to the newspaper delivery guy, garbage man, postal worker, and anyone else who services you throughout the year? Were you ever concerned about how much to give? Thanks to an opportunity going on now at Shaws through 12/15, you can pickup your gift cards for the holidays at Shaws and grab a $10 grocery coupon for your next $25 shopping trip.

The whole deal works like so:

  • Purchase $100 or more in select gift cards from the likes of Amazon, JCP, Bass Pro, Starbuck’s, Buffalo Wild Wings, Toys R Us, Kohl’s (exactly what is available depends on the store
  • Get $10 off your next shopping order (with $25 min. purchase at time of redemption)
  • Find your local Shaws location here
Now... about the amount you should be tipping extra for the holidays...

First of all, it depends on your budget. Don't give more than you can afford. Just because the guidelines say to give a certain amount, don't feel you must if it is going to put you in the poorhouse.

The general guideline is a week, month, or night's pay, depending upon what they do.

For the newspaper delivery person, you should give them the cost of a week to a month's worth of delivery, typically around $10-$30.

For the babysitter, you give them an extra night's pay, and have the kid make a homemade gift, too.

For the trash collector, about $10-$30. If they are a municipal employee, check the town guidelines as there may be a gift limit.

For the mailman, there are federal guidelines here that you should abide by. The limit is $20 that they can receive. Above that and they need to reimburse you the amount.

For the teacher, again there are probably limits here, depending upon school district and public vs. private school. My son's school has a $25 limit per family, but families can join together to pool their money together to get bigger items.

And... now for our giveaway, it is for a $75 Amazon gift card, is open to US residents, and ends on 12/15.
