To Burp or Not to Burp Book Review and Giveaway

Enter to #win the book To Burp or Not to Burp by astronaut Dr Dave Williams. #Giveaway ends 10/31
Growing up, I always wanted to be an astronaut. This was long before the time the first space shuttle launched in 1981 and the space station was not even being considered yet. Now, we're talking about manned missions to Mars. That brings us to a book I recently received to review: To Burp or Not to Burp, by Dr. Dave Williams and Loredana Cunti.

Dr. Williams is in fact an astronaut. The book is a kind of FAQ, with answers to the most frequently asked questions to astronauts. Everything kids ask about bodily functions like going to the bathroom in space to burping in space, and lots more.

The book is broken up into six sections:
  • The "Number One" Question
  • Clean and Neat
  • All Dressed Up
  • Antigravity Appetite
  • Body Basics
  • Space Flight Nighty Night
Going through the book, I never actually noticed the different sections. There isn't a section header on its own page. Just a different number at the top of the page. No big deal here as the book flows naturally from section to section.

With each section, or more specifically each page, you get some great photos from space with blurbs on the specific subject or subjects of the page. Plenty of fun facts to learn from.

The book targets the 7-10 year old young adult audience. With a nine-year old myself, I feel he hits the target audience just right. It is definitely an easy read, though. The age range is more so for the subject material, as any younger the child is less likely to understand the "in space" part of things.

Overall, a great book to learn about the day-to-day routine of life in space. If you have a space explorer in the family, they will surely love this. And, if you're planning a trip to the Air & Space Museum at the Smithsonian in DC, this is a must have before going.
Want a copy yourself? Just enter the giveaway below. It is open to residents of Canada and the United States who are 18+. Void where prohibited. The giveaway ends at 11:59pm EDT on 10/31/16. Good luck.
