Our family recently had the chance to try out the latest cereal and cookies from Barbara's. If you're not at first familiar with the brand, you might be more familiar with their Puffins line of cereals. They've been in the natural food arena for some time and offer lower sugar cereals and cookies for the kiddos, and adults alike. My wife and son are big fans of their Puffin line of cereals so I thought it would be great to try out some other items in their product lineup. We got to try out their Snackimals line of goodies, both cereal (above) and cookies (below). My nine-year old has a preference for lower sugar cereals and treats and he immediately jumped towards the chocolate variety, while mom and dad went for the vanilla. He grabbed the chocolate first as you typically don't get just 7 grams of sugar in a 3/4 cup serving of cereal. In addition to the vanilla blast and chocolate crisp flavors, there is also cinnamon crunch.
In addition to the cereals we had a chance to try out their cookies, too. Vanilla, peanut butter, chocolate chip, and oatmeal. There is also a double chocolate variety that we didn't have a chance to try.
Like the cereals, the shapes inside are animals. With a name of Snackimals that makes total sense. The thickness of the cookies reminds me more animal crackers, though, not cookies. That isn't a bad thing, as the flavor is strong, especially considering the natural flavorings for each variety. The amount of sugar per serving varies from 5g in the vanilla up to 10g in the peanut butter. Again like the cereals, they're all without artificial colors, flavors, preservatives, and trans fat.
If you're looking for a kid-friendly choice for breakfast or snacking, Barbara's Snackimals line is a great one to consider. Adults will certainly like them, too, but the definitely seem to be going for more of the child market with the animals. Lions, and tigers, and bears. Oh my.
Want to try them for yourself? Here's a chance to win a nice package of Barbara’s Snackimals goodies for you. The giveaway is open to US residents who are 18+ and runs through 11:59pm EDT on 6/26/16. Good luck and be sure to come back daily to get the most chances. Only one needed to win though.
