Selestial Soap Protect Extreme Sunscreen & Insect Repellent Review

My son is wrapping up his run of summer camp. Each day we apply sunscreen and insect repellent as he goes into the local woods to enjoy some outdoor fun. Midway through the summer, both my mother-in-law and myself had a similar thought, why isn't there a single product that does both? I traded in my Samsung Galaxy S3 last year and got a new Galaxy S5. When I got my new phone, I was able to sell my old one on eBay. Huzzah, King Richard's Faire is Coming Giveaway

King Richard's Faire is coming. As always, it opens Labor Day weekend. And, we have 4 tickets to giveaway for opening weekend. Hopefully, we'll get to the faire this year, but my wife's dealing with some knee problems and walking around all day on it might not be the best thing. Perhaps, if we wait until the end of the festival, she might be good enough to get around.

Not familiar with the festival? Shame on you. It runs in Carver, MA and is the longest running Renaissance festival in New England, originating in 1982 and taking you back to the 16th century. I don't remember why, but we missed the show last year. We try to get there every year. You can read our review of King Richard's Faire from 2013. Some of the performers change each year but the general flow of the festival remains the same.

The National Home Maintenance Manual Book Review

I'm asked to review books frequently. I pass on nearly all the ebooks. But, if the printed book is something I think I might find useful, stressing useful, I'll usually give it a go. Recently, the book that crossed paths is titled The National Home Maintenance Manual. It is subtitled The Complete Guide to Caring for Your Home, both of which should give you a good idea of what the book is about. This is also the sixth edition and first update since 2008, so its been around the block a few times.

The book is authored by David E. MacLellan and George E. Wolfson, AIA. David has been a home builder since 1969. With George, the AIA explicitly states he's an architect. Their combined knowledge provides the advice the typical homeowner needs to keep their home in shape.

Broken into nine chapters, you get a good feel for the maintenance tasks necessary to keep a home in good running order. For instance, having central air conditioning is great if you live in a warmer summer climate. However, it is best if you start it during the winter months to keep the mechanical parts from sticking. In fact, they recommend you do it twice during the winter months.

Jackery Powerbank Review for Back to School

It is back to school time and people are packing for the trip back to college or whatever level of school they're at. Most people think of the typical things to bring back to school, like a computer, clothes, sheets, and a mini-fridge of course. One thing that is helpful that you might not think of is an external powerbank to recharge your phone (or tablet). It can be a lifesaver for those times when you're out and about and the phone battery suddenly dies. It happens all too frequently where you either forget to recharge or literally use up all the battery juice.

I recently had the chance to review three of the six powerbanks available from Jackery, their Fit, Bar, and Giant+ models.
