#GivingTuesday Takes Over Boston

#GivingTuesday Takes Over Boston
Hard not to mention a popular subject for the day. What are you doing for #GivingTuesday?

Now in its fourth year, #GivingTuesday has become a global phenomenon – last year it brought together 30,000 partners in 68 countries and this year they are expecting almost 50,000 partners. Online donations hit an estimated $45.7 million last year, more than triple the amount of 2012.

GivingTuesday is not only about the money -- it’s about awareness, changing the way people think about giving, encouraging creativity in the nonprofit sector, and building bridges between profit and nonprofit.

Primark - In honor of #GivingTuesday, Primark’s Downtown Crossing flagship will feature a special offer for shoppers looking to give back to the community. Primark will donate $1 from every non-licensed folded nightwear purchase − which includes Pajama sets and robes for men, women and children − directly to St. Mary’s Center for Women and Children. This special one-day promotion is part of a long-term partnership Primark has developed with St. Mary’s Center.

Boston Healthcare for the Homeless Program - The law firm of Krokidas & Bluestein and an anonymous donor will be sponsoring BHCHP's #GivingTuesday efforts with up to $5,000 each. This means that every dollar donated will be matched up to $10,000 - doubling impact on patient care. When you donate on December 1st, #GivingTuesday becomes #GivingHopeDay for our patients in need of critical health services.

Ronald McDonald House Boston - The #givingtuesday #brmhgivecomfort challenge will help to ensure that the families at the BRMH continue to have a warm, supportive and comfortable “home-away-from-home” when they need it most. Donors are encourage to start a group fundraising page starting December 1. The group that raises the most by December 15 will receive Boston Ronald McDonald House swag, a spotlight on the website and Facebook page, and a private tour of the House.

GivingTuesday Somerville - GiveLocal will host a celebratory event on December 1st at the Center for the Arts at the Armory in Somerville. This collaborative fundraising effort will help to raise $50,000 for the participating nonprofit community of Somerville.
