Not familiar with collar-style headphones? As the name might imply, the ear-buds are connected to a base that sits around your neck. As seen above, this base provides all the buttons you typically find on headphones like for next/previous track, volume, and call answering, as well as the microphone for voice activated dialing. They're lightweight at under 5 ounces.
Setup of the headphones was a breeze. Just turn on the headphones from the switch on the side, then turn on Bluetooth for your device (iPhone,Samsung...) and scan from your phone. When pairing, the headphones show up with a device name of Swage U evo. From there, just listen to your music, or make a call, as it does have a built in microphone. The buttons allow you to advance tracks and adjust volume.
The Swage U evo collar-style headphones are a perfect solution for use when working out, or any place where you're bouncing around a lot. Unlike your typical on-ear headphones, that would need to have a tight grip to not fall off when bouncing around on the equipment, the in-ear ear-buds stay in well when you're active.
In addition to using the Swage U evo headphones for listening to music, they also work well for phone calls, too. There is the vibrating call alert so you know to you have a call coming in and the built in microphone on the left side of the collar part for picking up your audio. The headphones can even be connected to two devices at once if you have multiple lines to monitor.
How do they sound? My first test when trying out new speakers/headphones is always listening to Radioactive by Imagine Dragons. Basically, can it handle the strong bass of the song. For a $50 pair of headphones, the song played well through it with minimal to no distortion. The special effects of watching action movies comes across quite well, too. It is almost like listening in the movie theater.
When not in use, the ear buds fold back into the collar for a compact, sleek design that sits around your neck until the next usage.
The $50 price tag gets you for 13 hours of talk time, 10 hours to play music, and a standby time of 150 hours. With all that time available, you'll find the headphones to be comfortable to wear for the whole time if you want a marathon session. Just be sure to fully recharge the battery first.
I like the headphones and find them most useful when my activities require my headphones to stay on, despite my activities.
