Nootrobox: Nutrients for Your Brain

Sponsored by Nootrobox
Did you know that after crude oil, coffee is the second most valuable commodity exported by developing countries? It is consumed in industrialized nations but over 90% of production takes place in developing countries. (CIA World Fact Book) (Coffee second only to oil? Is coffee really the second largest commodity?)

With that said, Nootrobox is looking at changing the way you consume your coffee. They’ve started an Indiegogo campaign where, if successful, instead of drinking coffee in liquid form, you will eat it in the form of a chewable cube, think gummy bears for grownups. In addition to the caffeine equivalent of a half cup of coffee (50 mg vs. 95 mg), these chewable cubes are fortified with additional active ingredients:
  • Vitamin B-3 (Niacinamide) 25 mg 125%
  • Vitamin B-6 (Pyridoxine Hydrochloride) 10 mg 500%
  • Vitamin B-12 (Methylcobalamin) 30 mcg 500%
  • Folic Acid (Folic Acid) 500 mcg 125%
  • Theanine (L-Theanine) 100mg **
  • Glucuronolactone (Glucuronolactone) 125 mg
  • Inositol (Inositol) 125 mg
The active ingredients, or nootropics, are ingredients known to safely improve cognitive performance on exams, stressful days, and other mentally demanding tasks. Nootropics is an alternative to something like adderall for enhancing focus / performance, which has drawn attention in the competitive e-gaming industry of late (Drug Testing Is Coming to E-Sports). And, nootropics is also the basis of the company name, Nootrobox.

The Go Cubes, as they are so called, are what Nootrobox is hoping people will invest in, thanks to the Indiegogo campaign. It hit 50% of their $20,000 goal and is now sitting at 2/3rd the way there to fully fund the project. For the lowest investment of just $20, you can get 24 cubes / 12 cups of coffee, for $1.67 / cup. More expensive options are available with a lower per cup price. Personally, trying something new, I’d start with the lowest price and buy more if I like, but if the price is right, it may be worth getting more sooner.
The cubes come in three different flavors: Pure Drip, Mocha, and Latte. The packages are made up of random assortments of the three, so you can’t get all Latte or Mocha for instance. Perhaps, at a later time, they’ll offer single flavor packaging. One thing you’ll likely never find is decaf as the whole purpose of the product is as a caffeine delivery vehicle, with additional active ingredients in the product.

Are the Go Cubes from Nootrobox right for you? If you like the direct-to-consumer, ecommerce model, you’ve overcome the first hurdle. Actually, the first hurdle is probably coffee lover. If you don’t drink coffee, you have little need for these chewable bites, except for as a gift.

If this sounds like something you’d like to try, do stop by the Indiegogo campaign, and get started with the initial purchase/investment. With just until the end of September 2015 left to wrap up the funding and hammer out the details, this could be over before you realize. You won’t want to miss out. and be stuck online, on a line at your local coffee shop that is.

  1. I might use these cubes to get extra caffeine and vitamins, but they won't replace my morning coffee.

  2. never heard of this, ill give it a try thanks
