There are no nurses in my immediate family but when I include cousins there are an amazing number of nurses in the family. When both my parents passed, they were surrounded by family and nurses from the family. While there was nothing they could do to fix the situation, being available to talk to staff to get a clearer picture of what was going on was forever helpful. This book reminds me of how grateful I was during the situations. As the opening quote in the book says:
To all the nurses who, perhaps more than any other group on Earth, truly ease the suffering in the world.
As is typical of a Chicken Soup for the Soul book, you have 101 uplifting stories. The stories here are by nurses and for nurses. I liked reading about all the different trials and tribulations nurses go through. However, without the personal connection, they didn't always hit home as much as they could. There might be a great story about a NICU nurse, but not being close to one, you miss a little connection with the whole story. Don't get me wrong, this is a good book. But I feel the "for Nurses" part of the title is there for a reason. Since I'm not one, I'm going to pass this book along to one of the many nurses of the family. I'm sure they will enjoy immensely and enjoy sharing with their colleagues, too.
