World Video Game Hall of Fame Inducts Inaugural Class

Without much fanfare, the World Video Game Hall of Fame inducted its inaugural class:

  • Pong – 1972
  • Pac-Man – 1980
  • Tetris – 1984
  • Super Mario Bros – 1985
  • Doom – 1993
  • World of Warcraft – 2004
The nine finalists that didn't make the cut this time around: The Legend of Zelda, Minecraft, The Oregon Trail, Angry Birds, FIFA, Pokemon, The Sims, Sonic the Hedgehog, and Space Invaders. The Oregon Trail? I don't even remember that one.

I owned the original Pong game. Was it that long ago??? Boy am I getting old... I've put tons of quarters in Pac-Man machines and still enjoy a good game of Doom. Which one is/was your favorite?

Be sure to nominate the candidates for next year's entry class.

  1. I have the table top pac-man game that it shows in the picture! Lol I'm old too!! I take it out every once and awhile and play a few games! Oregon trail was a game we played in school that was really fun! You were a pioneer on the organ trail and had to buy supplies and things to make it on your journey! Check it out sometime it was pretty interesting!
