I guess the thing I like most is the family taking time to get together and getting reacquainted again. Time flies.
ReplyDeleteI love the way we make all the wonderful special family recipes. There's no other day in the year where we all come together and make such a feast and it's a great day with wonderful cooks and love in the house.
ReplyDeleteWe make my grandmother's stuffing recipe no matter where the gathering is at. There is also a flag football game played out side no matter the weather.
ReplyDeleteOur family is scattered over different countries so we don't have many traditions anymore. I still put the decorations up the weekend after Thanksgiving but I do it by myself now.
ReplyDeleteWe make Thanksgiving an all day event. Most holidays are divided up between in-laws, extended family, etc. but Thanksgiving is here starting around noon and usually not ending till midnight. Its a lot of fun having everyone together.

ReplyDeleteWe make a big deal over Halloween more than the other holidays and decorate and cook and party then. The holidays are quiet since we have little family.

ReplyDeleteMy family and I all dislike turkey (which makes the Turkey Day dinner not so tradtional). We all get together and smush (for lack of a better term) beans and meat together and then make fusion enchiladas. And then wash our hands

I love our family tradition of all the children coming over to spend the day. We laugh, talk, play games, eat and watch football. Later that evening (or early the next morning) we all get together again to go Black Friday shopping. So much fun!

ReplyDeleteWe are actually more certain to have a full family get-together at Thanksgiving, which is one of the things that makes that my favorite holiday. For Christmas, there is the necessity for making certain all sets of grandparents, etc, get involved with the children.
