LuxPro Flashlight Review

I received this product for the purpose of this review. All opinions states are my own and may differ from yours.
We have some really old flashlights in our house. They certainly work for an emergency but aren't really something you'd want to use otherwise. They are the old-fashioned kind with a small bulb and requiring several D batteries to power it. In other words, they're big, too, and work great if you need something to bop someone over the head with. Boy have times changed. I was given the opportunity to review a LuxPro LED flashlight and I jumped at the opportunity.

I've been playing around with their TAC 600 / Tactical 600 model. It is super bright, lightweight, and really small. It runs off of just four AAA batteries. Brightness is ranked at 320 lumens for seven hours, and that isn't anywhere near their brightest model.

The primary old one I had weighed in at 1 pound, 3.4 ounces. I have an even heavier / bigger one, too. This new one is a whopping 6 ounces. It is quite a bit brighter, and water resistant to boot. Yes, I even had it floating in the bathroom sink. Okay, it didn't float, it sank right to the bottom, but it kept working fine (see above). I would have never tried that with any of my older ones without knowing it would have destroyed the unit.

The TAC 600 model I reviewed sells for $25 from their web site. You can also pick it up at CVS or Lowes supposedly, though I didn't explicitly look there. They do have a model that takes 3 D batteries. That one rocks in at 480 lumens brightness (for 3 hours).

I think I can finally throw away the old flashlights and perhaps look into getting a second for emergencies. They even sell illuminated dog collars and flashlights with laser pointers on them. Just don't aim the lasers towards the planes in the sky. You could get arrested.
