Stephen's Stovetop BBQ Grill Review
I received a Stephen's Stovetop BBQ Grill to try out in relation to the current Swim, Sun, and Fun Giveaway. There, you can win two more of these $120 grills. The stove top grill is an indoor barbecue grill, meant to be used on top of a gas stove top, which we have. My first experience with the grill was interesting, and hurried. My wife and I are big into barbecuing on our outdoor grill. So much so, that we ran out of propane in the middle of grilling some salmon.
How to fix the problem? For some crazy reason I thought let's break out the new Stephen's Stovetop BBQ Grill and finish them off there. I had been reading the instruction booklet so I had a rough idea of what to do. I quickly got the grill out of the box, cleaned a little, and preheated the unit on top of the stove. You place the unit over a gas stove burner.

The cooking went amazingly well. We were able to finish off the salmon without it turning out too bad with the split cook time. We cooked it skin on so it crisped up some on the grill, then pealed right off when we took it off the grill. Taste was spot on. We do a balsamic glazed grilled salmon. The original recipe started out on, though it gets tweaked a little every now and then.

The perfect usage of the grill, besides when you run out of propane, is weather related. Living in Boston, we can typically only grill for maybe half the year, a little longer if you don't mind some cold weather and it hasn't snowed yet. Some crazy people might BBQ in the snow, but that is just a bit much for us. It is those times when you can't barbecue outside that you can utilize Stephen's Stovetop Grill inside the house. Especially with the rain, no more changing the meal plan or breaking out the electric counter top plate grill. Now, thanks to Stephen's Stovetop Grill, we can grill year round.

With the $120/$100 cost, you might think why bother when you can get a $20-$30 grill pan, that you place right over the gas stove, too. There are multiple reasons. One of the reasons is the uniform cooking. Being round, you get a more even cook than one of those square or rectangular grill pans. More importantly though, the Stephen's Stovetop BBQ Grill will cook faster. The grill pan cooks both convectively and conductively. So, you get the heat through convection from the airflow and conductively from the direct contact on the stovetop grill. The Stovetop grill even has a non-stick coating to simplify cleaning any grill.

We like our indoor grill but it is hard to give up the outdoor grill in the summer. I suspect we may use it once or twice when the rain comes out when it is grill night but for the most part, I sense lots of usage when the weather turns cold.

You can watch the video below of using the grill to create perfect sliders.

  2. This grill is perfect for me to use , i love to grill but hate the mess of firing up the big old grill we own just to have a few simple things to cook & the recipe to make the sliders on this grill looks delish , thank you for sharing

  3. I prefer a pool over the ocean. I've never been stung by a jellyfish in a pool.

  4. I prefer the dry heat like in Arizona, less sweating and easier on the body.
