Sammy the Centipede Goes to the Chiropractor Review

I received this product for the purpose of this review. All opinions states are my own and may differ from yours.
This is the third book I've reviewed in the Sammy the Centipede series. Back in December, we saw Sammy went to the market. In February, Sammy went to the dentist. The chiropractor book is actually the first in the series, not the third. I wasn't going to review this book as I had no need to explain a chiropractor to my son. However, my son saw the book mentioned in the other titles, and he literally asked me to ask Maria if she would let us review that book, too. So, here you go, since Maria was gracious enough to say yes.

When Sammy goes to the chiropractor, it is really the world's first introduction to Sammy. He likes to exercise and is drawn with such fantastic, colorful graphics. While exercising, things aren't working just right, and he ends up needing to get an adjustment from the chiropractor. The book introduces the reader to what a chiropractor is and to the anatomy of the spinal cord. The book actually goes into quite a bit of depth talking about the spinal cord. Having a pinched nerve in my neck, I needed to learn a little about that myself, to understand what was wrong. This book goes surprisingly deeper. That isn't a bad thing, as if a child, or someone in their family, has the need for a chiropractor, this book will help alleviate any fears the child may have, or at least educate them about what is going on.

The one thing the book doesn't do is teach the reader how to pronounce chiropractor. It was fun listening to my son try saying the word. He still can't say it right. He can certainly spell it fine, but it is always a chuckle to hear him say the word. Being the man of many words, when asked his opinion of the book, he answered, "I liked it. It sorta teaches you." Mom and dad liked it, too. Without the immediate need for it though, you lose some of the educational value of the book. With the market and dentist book, he had the direct connection to it. For the chiropractor book, it was more just another book to read. Still a fantastic job from author Maria Luchsinger. Can't wait to read her next one when Sammy tries to gets fit.

You can buy the book for $14.99 from the author's web site. She has a printable page to color for each of her books there.
