EpoxyShield Garage Floor Project Day 2

EpoxyShield Garage Floor Project Day 2
Yesterday, we had Day 1 of my EpoxyShield journey. Today, we have Day 2. (Part 3 was posted later in the week, as was Part 4). I discovered yesterday that we needed their Concrete Patch & Repair product as there are many cracks in the floor. And, I only got around to degreasing half the floor. So, for today's journey, it started with heading to the home improvement store to buy the repair kit and wrap up the degreaser work once back home.

The Home Depot visit was after lunch. Just couldn't get myself moving too early. Most staff at the store had no clue where the product was located. It ended up being with the painting materials, not with the concrete nor flooring materials.

Next, I finished up degreasing the other side of the garage. For the second side, I used the degreaser straight out of the bottle, no dilution. For a garage floor that we haven't cared for in a lengthy period of time, I'm not sure what I was thinking yesterday with the dilution.

After cleaning out the second side, it was time for a break. Family came over for a barbecue for dinner so the floor had to play second fiddle.
Next up were the cracks. I'm trying to figure out if we'll need a second kit before the kit is even started. One kit supposedly covers 14 linear feet of space. Our cracks are longer but not as deep. Time we'll tell how many kits we need.
The last thing I did for the evening was try out the filler. The material in the two containers is mixed together in a 2-to-1 ratio. Just use a small portion, not the whole containers. Once combined, you have 20-30 minutes to apply everything.
After applying the filler, wait an hour and do over the same area again. Then you must wait eight hours for the product to cure. Don't forget to do it the second time, an hour later.

The temperatures are up for the week and I'm not quite sure when I'll be painting just yet. Saturday is predicted to be in the 70s but the rest of the week is high 80s, if not 90s. I'll spend the next couple of days doing the filler and will report back when it is time to paint.

  1. I've never tried this product. We have a ton of cracks in our garage that need repaired, this looks like something I could do. Looking forward to future posts on this. Not sure what you do after applying this..

  2. Our garage could really use this fix! This looks like a good project for my son.
I've been wanting to paint the garage floor but I wasn't sure how to prepare it. Thanks for the post!
