Disable LinkedIn Profile Activity Broadcast Notifications

LinkedIn Logo
In my aperiodic series of how-to articles, I now bring you how to disable those annoying notification emails in Linkedin for each and every activity update. This helps prevent the accidental ones that you don't want to share with the world, to the purposeful changes that you really do want people to see if they look, but just not automatically spammed.
LinkedIn Privacy & Settings
As a first step, click on your picture in the top right corner. This will bring up a drop-down menu where one of the options is Privacy & Settings. Select that.
LinkedIn Privacy Controls
Next, pick the Turn on/off your activity broadcasts option under Privacy Controls. That will bring up the Activity broadcasts window.
From here, make sure the Let people know when you change your profile, make recommendations, or follow companies checkbox is not checked. Then press Save changes.
You'll see a success message on the screen in green if all goes well. Now no more annoying your friends with messages.

Changing this setting doesn't prevent you from getting other people's annoying messages. Just from you sending out messages on your changes.

  1. How do you prevent getting other people's annoying messages? I don't use linkedin myself.
