NERF: The Ultimate Blaster Book Review

I received this product for the purpose of this review. All opinions states are my own and may differ from yours.
The Ultimate Nerf Blaster Book Cover
Frequently, when I do a book review, I'm the one requesting the book because I think it would be interesting. Recently, this book showed up in my mailbox, totally unsolicited, without even a note from the publisher (powerHouse) saying they were offering it for review..

At the office I work in, we have a bunch of Nerf guns. In fact, my favorite weapon is front and center on the cover. So I really like the book's subject, Nerf guns. In fact, it offers the supposed history and timeline of ALL Nerf guns.

NERF: The Ultimate NERF Blaster Book
The book is basically a catalog of the history of time for Nerf guns. It starts out with a nice little What's in a Name table so you know what all those letters in the N-Strike blaster name are, like EBF stands for electronically fed belt and IX is for internal mechanism for propulsion. There is then a chapter on all the ammo that has EVER come out for the different guns, including the XLR Disc, and not just all the darts.

The bulk of the book is three chapters on the different weapons. Each weapon comes with at least a half page description and a table offering when released, range, and capacity, among other things. I never knew how many different varieties of Nerf guns had previously been released. You would think the descriptions would be repetitive, but author Nathaniel Marunas does a great job keeping each fresh.

The final chapter of the book highlights the various accessories available for the weapons, like scopes that attach to tactical rails or vests for holding extra clips. This section is probably the one most likely to have you hunt out something to buy after you see what might work with a device. I can just see the look I would get wearing a bandolier strap, holding extra ammo, and going to a meeting at the office.

The book comes with an added bonus, six specially tagged N-Strike Elite darts you won't find anywhere else. Do you dare take them out of the book to use?

In the end, I think the book would be a great gift for any Nerf Blaster fan. I can't really see buying it for oneself, but I guess if you're a big enough fan, you certainly would want this on your bookshelf, too, to help resolve any arguments you might get into with friends.
