8" Pouring Pot Tabletop Fountain Review

Water Fountain Pros Logo
I recently was given the opportunity to review a tabletop water fountain. The folks over at WaterFountain Pros sent me their 8" Pouring Pot Tabletop Fountain model. It arrived quickly and was surprisingly light. For some reason I was thinking this would be stone, but being an indoor-only model it was made of a hard poly-resin. The whole box, with packing material, weighed only 2 1/2 pounds to give you an idea.

The unit came in two big pieces with a box for the electronics, the pump and plug. There were also a couple of pieces of plastic greenery to make it look like a plant was growing out of a pot. Installation instructions were pretty straight forward. Put a ring around the hose that sucks the water up and connect the bottom of the hose to the pump. Fill base of unit with water. Submerge pump in water, placing top of unit over base. Plug in. And setup is done.

Wait a little bit and the water starts flowing. The ring placed around the hose has some yellow-orange LED lights on it, so when running, you see a glow through where the water discharges into the unit. There is also a flow control switch on the pump to alter how quickly water passes through system. When the unit is running, the fountain creates some white noise in the background. The noise is a cross between the running water and that of the pump. Neither is too loud to distract and will help drown out any other noises you might have going on in your surroundings. Size-wise, the unit itself measures 8" high and 10 1/2" across. The electric plug isn't too long, so you do have to be pretty close to an outlet, unless you add an extension cord. Just be careful with the pump placement so the water doesn't run out and down the cord. That could be dangerous and involves some care.

The Pouring Pot Tabletop Fountain sells for $40. This one looks to be close to their smallest indoor model. Pro Home Stores offers thousands of home and office decor items with free shipping and no sales tax (unless you live in Washington state). Everything from wall water fountains to a bean bag sofa and even fire pit covers.

My overall opinions of the water fountain are pretty positive, if you are in the market for a small-scale indoor model. You probably could get a quieter pump if you don't mind spending more money, but the existing pump isn't a reason to not buy the fountain. You do hear the sound of the running water over the pump, even at the slowest flow rate. About the only thing I might ask for in the unit is multi-color or flashing LED lights. Of course, the flashing might be more of distraction than it is worth if you are looking for something calming like a fountain.

  3. I would LOVE to hear a fountain while falling asleep. This would bring back wonderful memories of our house in Cape Cod, listening to the waves from bed.

  4. I love fountains, aquariums, basically any element of water feature that can be incorporated into the house. They help calm the people who live there and give a sense of something being alive and natural in the house. Great review.
