MailPix Photo Brag Book Review and Giveaway

Logo: Turning Images Into Memories
I was recently given the opportunity to try out MailPix. They're an online photo printing provider that also offers greeting cards, aluminum metal prints, and many other personalized items.

I ordered their 5x7 40-page photo brag book. Brag books are single-sided photos bound together with a plastic ring binding. You upload your pictures then can either auto-generate the book, or manually place pictures on the different pages. I first tried the auto-generate option but wanted to move some pages around. Since their system didn't support reordering the generated pages, I ended up manually structuring the book. This involved picking which layout to put on each page (they offer ten), then placing the individual pictures, up to four per page. You can also add text to pages, set the background color, and decide on the style of the book.

Binding
Apart from lack of page reordering, the overall process was pretty easy. It just takes time to get everything to look just right. And comparing the printed book to the page structure of the online project reveals they got everything right. Even the pictures I needed rotated came out properly.

When you first create your account you get 100 free 4x6 prints. You only have to pay for shipping and don't have to use the whole 100 at once. They also offer unlimited 4x6 prints for a penny every Wednesday. Watch for other special offers, too.
Picture Keeper
MailPix is also offering a Picture Keeper free with each order. You just have to pay shipping. I didn't try this out but it looks like the USB drive has software that finds all the pictures on your computer and saves up to 4,000 (5MP) pictures off to the thumb drive (less if camera resolution higher). It works with Mac OSX and Microsoft Windows. Supposedly, it has a $30 value.

One thing the Picture Keeper won't find is those older prints you have hidden away at the bottom of the closet. For those, MailPix offers a photo scanning service. For 49¢ each, they'll convert just about any photo, slide, or negative. I might have to watch for a special here. I'm not sure how keen I'd be about doing that DIY-style, standing over a scanner all day.

As a parent, we're all taking lots of pictures. It is what we do with them that allows us to enjoy them most. MailPix allows us to create lasting memories in not just prints but many other personalizable products. And, their prices are extremely competitive. Definitely worth using again when its time for the next photo book.

And now for the giveaway part. You can win your very own Brag Book from MailPix.
